If after inserting the new SIM card you cannot make a call or browse the Web youll need to activate your new phone or SIM card online. Scan the QR code generated for you in the ATT system or in the physical eSIM card packs you can get from stores to add your plan of choice.

On the phone go to Settings-General-About and enter the IMEI from the E-Sim and the 32 digit EID number into the correct boxes on the website. Scroll to Options settings and select Get a new eSIM. You can pick the option to enter the plan details manually from the same screen.
